Chepe’s

Summary:  Overall rating of 4.8 stars. Chepe’s is an amazing restaurant located in San Ramon that offers a wide sampling of cuisines. From Mexican to Peruvian and everything in between. I must admit at first, we were a little apprehensive because the sampling was so diverse we were afraid the quality and flavor would be lost. However, according to TripAdvisor it is the #1 place to eat in all of San Ramon so we threw caution to the wind and headed down the mountain. The place is small, maybe six tables and a bar area which makes for a very intimate setting. The service is five-star. In fact, the owner Jose Carlos waited on us and catered to our every desire. The flavor… OMG… I can’t take no more, it was “smack your Mama good“.

The Pita Falafel was the best I have ever had (period). It was better than the falafel at my two favorite places – Taco Fusion, Houston Texas and Jerusalem Garden Café, Asheville North Carolina. The falafel texture was moist not hard or dry with a little spicy hot flavor that exploded in your mouth. Instead of the patty being served like a large meatball it was sliced up like lamb so to not compromise the structural integrity of the pita bread.

The Chef’s artistic visual display of excellence was so enchanting I didn’t want to eat the Pineapple Crumble pie for fear I would destroy his masterpiece… Oh but when I did bite down into it, I could hear the angels sing.
