One of the best ways to experience a new place is to go on a bike tour. We enlisted the help of the good folks at “Hop on a Great Bike Tour in Lima” through Airbnb. Ronnie was our tour guide. He was outstanding. His English impeccable and his bike safety top notch. We had the time of our lives.
The ride started out in Miraflores centro then down to the coast. From there we headed over to Barranco then back up to Miraflores. Ronnie’s extensive knowledge of Peruvian history made the ride extremely informative.
Miraflores is like the SOHO section of Lima. It’s a very upscale and trendy area with shops, restaurants, etc. Barranco on the other hand is an older historic transitioning area that caters more to the bohemian set. One of the first things we noticed while riding through these neighborhoods is the cultural diversity of Lima. You see the influences of the Incas, Spaniards, Africans, and Asians.
We are very impressed with the attention Lima has placed on outdoor living by providing numerous parks, green spaces and an extensive network of trails. We really like the fact that these areas are accented with historic buildings, monuments, etc. It’s like taking a journey through history.
