Home Sweet Home

Leaving our dream home and moving to paradise. On, August 5th we put our wonderful hill country home on the market after living there for over a decade. It has been bittersweet. We are excited about the adventure that awaits us in Costa Rica but sad to say goodbye to Rancho de La Roca.

We have so many fond memories to look back on from our time here in Wimberley. Star gazing from the back of the pickup bed in the driveway; Sunday morning hikes through the park down to the Blue Hole; moving rocks from one location of the yard to another – the original CrossFit workout; watching the sunrise and set from our rocking chairs on the porch, just to name a few.

We are going to miss our four-legged friends we have become so fond of through the years, most of all – the white tailed deer, black buck antelopes, fallow deer, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, opossums, raccoons, skunks, porcupines, ringtails, armadillos, snakes and the assortment of birds. I only hope that the new owners will continue to provide them with a nice meal, a cold drink and a place to lay their heads.

On September 25th we unofficially moved into our beautiful mountain home in lovely Grecia, Costa Rica. The move won’t be official until we sell our house in Texas. Our new home sits at 5200 feet above sea level right next to Bosque del Nino National Forest.

Our mountain home offers amazing  views of Grecia, especially at night. Our first night we were surprised by the cool mountain air. The temperatures dipped down to the upper 40s. We will definitely be bringing our long johns and some blankets. The temperature during the day was great mid to low 70s.

The first morning we woke up at 5am to watch the sunrise over  the mountains from the sun room. Two of our neighbors, whom I have affectionately named – Senior Eduardo and Don Qui – Coati, greeted us that day and every day thereafter. Senior Eduardo aka Mr. Ed is a horse that comes by every morning to scratch his back on the tree out front. Don Qui-Coati is a Coati that comes right up to the back door in the morning. It did my heart good to know that I will have four-legged friends here to care for. I wish there were sloths here but we are too high in altitude for them.

As we turn the page and begin our new chapter together, we must give a special shout out to our Creator who has blessed us beyond measure. For without Him none of this would be possible. “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17 KJV
